New Home in Nepal

This family has lived in a wooden mud house for years, living at the peril of the monsoon season, which lasts around 3-4 months a year.

Houses are typically built with wood sidings, dirt floors and thatched roofs which are of no match against the heavy rainstorms that frequent Nepal each year.

We felt led to build a home for this family in need. It cost about $3000 USD. Finally, after it was built, we gathered their family members and neighbours to celebrate with us at the dedication of the house.

It was a joyous occasion, but something didn’t sit right when I saw the matriarch of the family running her hands against the newly finished walls.

She’s blind.

She could only feel the new home with her hands, but not see it with her own eyes.

But I had a hunch - I wasn’t convinced she was medically blind.

“Can someone get her to an eye doctor?” I asked.

After 4 hours of travelling up and down the mountains and dirt roads, they finally got her to an eye specialist.

It cost just $300 for the surgery, so we paid it upfront.

Now we are waiting to hear back from them to see how the surgery went.

The hope is that when she returns she would get to see the new home with her own eyes! Join us in prayer for total restoration of sight for her.

Here’s a photo of her and her husband in front of the new home.
